Terrace plants, a five-minute walk, and the farmer's rhythm
Shambhavi lives in a terrace apartment filled with plants and works in a studio five minutes away. "I live in an apartment whose terrace I have filled up with my favourite plants. Then I go to my studio, a short distance, five minutes away. Then in the evening I come home like the farmer."
A farmer's daughter, she stays connected with the earth — pulp studies, earth pigments and iron trials grow side by side in this living archive of ongoing work. Being deeply connected with the earth and its magnificent output, little patches of green under the vast sky.
Ongoing projects trace the current studio wall: hand-beaten pulp, pigment trials, harvest light and work in progress — eleven studies from the Delhi studio, each sheet a site of excavation in fibre and mineral.
Each work is part of a living archive of practice from the Delhi studio, where painting became sculptural and paper began to breathe.
