Earth Mother Study

Marks cascading like rain and rising like crops; inheritance from agrarian community research.

Acrylic, earth pigments, soil, charcoal on canvas · 48x60in and larger · 2023

Megh Meyrnd is a meditation on convergence — where cloud and soil meet, where ancestral chants fuse with gestural marks, where the personal becomes universal. Megh is cloud in Hindi; Meyrnd evokes the earth in dialect, a language of fields and ancestors.

In this series the artist honors the earth as eternal mother — source, sustainer, and ultimate home. Meteorological patterns drift across canvases; soil samples are embedded in paint; marks cascade like rain or rise like crops. Color shifts from storm-gray to rich loam brown, from open-sky blue to iron-rich red.

These works emerge from research into agrarian communities, climate anxiety, and spiritual ecology — paintings about inheritance: what we receive from the earth, what we owe to it, and what we leave behind.
